2023-11-27 | A Kimbab Angel

As the semester goes by, everyone's suffering from the course works. There was a midterm break though, it was virtually a focused homework week. The busier the life is, the more important it is to control the stress level. Going farther slowly and steadily is oftentimes much better than sprinting quickly and being exhausted. My November 2023 was just like this. I had much workload coming from term projects, (and damn it there're two of them!) and tried not to be nor of: (1) giving up to the courses or (2) being a highly optimized studying robot.

It was that time when my Korean angel friend offered a handmade Kimbab. When you have it at night, the taste doubles. When you have it in Canada, the taste quadruples. If it's handmade by your friend, it octaples!

Then another angel friend shared some curry. I love curry regardless of their origins: Indian, Japanese, Korean, etc. As it got colder, the curry warmed my body and I felt like I went to an Onsen. Hmm.. I should cook sometime too and share.

In Richmond, there's a beautiful and wide garden/park called Minoru. There was a pond and it was crystal clear that it almost looked like a mirror, reflecting the trees and the buildings around. Walking through the way with autumn leaves is a truly healing experience.

After 2015, I visited Granville Island finally again. At that time, I just followed my friend Hoon without knowing much about the geography of Vancouver. This time, I grew up and actively investigated the spot. Have you ever visited your elementary school after you grew up? The school looked so big when we were young, but when you go there again, you realize how small it actually is. It was similar to this feeling. There are good shops and food markets which would also be good for dating.

A UBCer must know the place. It's in front of the rose garden where we can see the Pacific Ocean and the mountains far away. It's a wide-open front view of the ocean. You can feel the vastness of the space and the wind coming toward you.

Soon it's Christmas. The bulb decoration makes me sentimental. It's good to view this scene after hard work at the lab.

Chinese friends + many other friends + mala dry hot pot + ktv = happiness

SJC Sheriffs showed very good performance this semester. Actually, the team never lost. The guys play so well. There's a regular training session every Tuesday night. It's a good exercise to forget about all the kinds of stuff related to deep learning, t-cell receptors, protein docking, large language models, etc.
